Somatics

Somatics is the experience of being in conversation with the body, an intentional practice of embodiment. Somatic therapy evolved as a way to treat PTSD and chronic stress, but practices of what we now call somatics began long before Western psychology. Using somatics in session might include breathwork, therapeutic yoga, visualization, sensation exploration, and/or conscious movement. I also bring somatics into the therapy room by keeping myself in my body and encouraging you to stay present in yours.

Most cultures are practices around embodiment. Our dancing, our singing, our relationship to land, the place where we make contact, the stories we create to make meaning of our lives, all of that to me is somatics.
